This policy is part of the Odyssey Standards website terms and may be incorporated into accepted services where applicable. Read it together with any Accepted Scope or signed agreement.
1. Scope
This policy applies unless an Accepted Scope, signed agreement, or legally required consumer right states otherwise. Because analytical work often involves scheduling, standards, supplies, partner-lab commitments, and sample preparation, refund eligibility depends on project status and nonrecoverable costs.
2. Before acceptance or payment
A project intake request may be withdrawn before acceptance without charge unless the client separately authorized paid consulting, feasibility, procurement, shipping, or rush work.
3. After acceptance but before work begins
If the client cancels after acceptance but before analytical work begins, Odyssey Standards may refund amounts paid minus completed administrative or technical work, purchased or committed standards and supplies, shipping, partner-lab charges, card or payment fees where lawful, and other non-cancellable costs. A stated non-refundable deposit remains non-refundable to the extent permitted by law.
4. After work begins
Once sample receipt, accessioning, preparation, method work, analysis, data review, partner-lab work, or report preparation begins, fees for completed and committed work are earned and generally non-refundable. Odyssey Standards may provide a partial credit for unperformed work at its discretion after deducting committed costs.
5. Sample rejection
If Odyssey Standards rejects a sample for being unapproved, unsafe, misdeclared, insufficient, damaged, prohibited, or inconsistent with the Accepted Scope, the client remains responsible for intake, handling, return, disposal, shipping, and committed third-party costs. Unperformed analytical fees may be refunded or credited after those amounts are deducted.
6. Odyssey Standards service issue
If Odyssey Standards materially fails to perform an accepted service as specified and the client provides timely notice, Odyssey Standards’s remedy is, at Odyssey Standards’s option, to reperform the affected work where feasible or refund the fees paid for that affected service. An unexpected, unfavorable, inconclusive, or nonconforming result is not by itself a service failure.
7. Rush and expedited fees
Rush, priority, and expedited fees pay for reserved capacity and scheduling effort and are non-refundable after that capacity is reserved, except when Odyssey Standards cancels the expedited commitment and no equivalent accommodation is accepted.
8. Client delay or abandonment
Odyssey Standards may close a project if the client does not provide required information, authorization, payment, or instructions within 30 days after notice. Completed and committed amounts remain payable. Samples may be treated as abandoned under the Sample Handling Policy.
9. How to request review
Use the Contact page, select “Existing submission,” provide the submission or invoice number, identify the disputed charge, and explain the requested resolution. Requests should be made within 30 days of the charge or report, subject to non-waivable rights under applicable law.
